Appointment booking

Appointment booked.
What does your thank you page show?

Someone puts themselves on your calendar. Afterwards it just says “Thank you very much”? You can use this moment to help your prospect get to know you better and come to the call prepared.

The short answer

A thank you page after booking the appointment confirms the appointment and prepares you for the conversation. A short personal video, suitable customer testimonials and concrete results provide orientation. If it fits the offer, a demo can be added. The page will be displayed after the successful booking.

Once you book an appointment, the process of building trust doesn’t stop.

Your interested parties come to you via different channels. Some have already read your website in detail. Others know a LinkedIn comment of yours or receive the appointment link directly in the chat.

These people do not automatically have the same level of knowledge when booking. Maybe they have a general idea of what you offer, but haven't seen a customer testimonial and know little about how you work.

This is exactly where the thank you page comes in. After booking, your interested party can make sure that it was a good decision. I know who I'll talk to. And I already have a feeling for what this person achieves for customers.

In my video I show this process using customer projects. It's about people coming to the appointment prepared and allowing the conversation to build on more trust.

This is how I use thank you pages for social proof and appointment preparation

YouTube only loads after you click, which sends your IP address to YouTube. We use privacy-enhanced mode via youtube-nocookie.com.

01 / Provide security

First confirm that the appointment booking worked.

Your prospect has just filled out a form or selected an appointment. Before you show him more content, answer the obvious question: Did it work?

The confirmation can be personal and uncomplicated. In the video I show how this becomes an invitation to prepare.

Example to get started

Great, your appointment is booked. I look forward to you!

Take a moment to watch the video. In it you will find out how you can prepare for our conversation.

The text is a customizable example. If you name a specific video length, it must of course fit your video. You want to make the next step easy for your visitor.

02 / Prepare personally

A short video explains what is important in the call.

In the video I show Sebastian Auer's thank you page. There is a short welcome video of around 40 seconds. It brings personality to the page and sets the framework for the conversation.

You don't have to record a long presentation. Three things are enough as a starting point:

  • Express anticipation: Show that you are looking forward to speaking to this person.
  • Name the frame: Please attend on time and in a quiet environment.
  • Show personality: Speak the way you speak in conversation. Your prospect should get to know you.

This is a different task than an in-depth sales video. The appointment is already booked. Now it's about orientation and a good start to the collaboration.

03 / Show experiences

Customer testimonials answer questions before the initial consultation.

After confirmation and short preparation, suitable testimonials and case studies can follow. They show what other customers have experienced and what results emerged from the collaboration.

In Sebastian Auer's example, important video testimonials are on the thank you page. These discussions also answer questions and objections that may concern new interested parties.

Select customer testimonials based on their relevance. Which customer had a similar starting point? What experience is currently helping your prospect? Which statement makes your approach understandable?

Show video and text so visitors can choose.

Some people enjoy watching an interview. Others prefer reading. In the video I also show the combination of longer customer interviews and written testimonials.

An in-depth video doesn't have to be watched in its entirety by everyone to be useful on the site. The person for whom this particular customer case is relevant can go deeper. A text offers another opportunity to obtain information.

In the article I explain how you can get customer testimonials with real substance Obtain testimonials. If your references so far only say “Everything’s great,” it’s worth working on the content before you put more of it on the thank you page.

04 / If it fits your offer

A demo can give interested parties their own experiences.

In another example from the video, a software prospect is given two options after booking: view references or test a demo app.

That fits the offer. The person can gain an impression before the interview and come to the appointment with more specific questions.

However, a demo is not a mandatory part of every thank you page. If you don't have a useful test option, you don't need to invent one. Good customer examples and a clear preparation video can be just the right support.

For a service

Personal preparation, relevant customer opinions and concrete project results.

With suitable software

Additionally, you have the opportunity to try out the product yourself before the interview.

After successful booking, redirect to your own thank you page.

In the video I show this way with Calendly: The interested party books an appointment and is then redirected to a separate page on the website. That’s where the preparation and trust elements are.

The specific setting method depends on your booking system and its range of functions. The desired order is clear: First book successfully, then see the confirmation and preparation.

The thank you page should not appear before booking. Otherwise it says “appointment booked” even though this step has not yet been completed.

Also think about what information your prospect really needs at this point. The page is intended to accompany him into the existing appointment. She doesn't need a second request to book the same appointment again.

This is how you check your thank you page from the perspective of a prospective customer.

Go through the process yourself: from the appointment link to the booking to the thank you page. The following checklist is derived from the process shown.

  1. Is the successful booking immediately recognizable? No guesswork as to whether the appointment has actually been entered.
  2. Is the preparation understandable and manageable?A quick next step instead of a wall full of tasks.
  3. Do the customer testimonials show relevant experiences? You should answer questions that new prospects also have.
  4. Is there an alternative to watching videos?Written customer testimonials give visitors another opportunity to build trust.
  5. Does an optional next step really fit the offer?A demo helps if it prepares the interested party sensibly.

You don't have to reinvent the entire sales process. Use the content that already shows your expertise and bring it to the point where your prospect would like to take a closer look.

Frequently asked questions about thank you pages after booking an appointment

What is a Thank You Page?

A page that appears after an action is completed. This article is about the page after booking an appointment: It confirms the booking and can get you in the mood for the conversation with preparation, customer opinions and suitable examples.

How long should the preparation video be?

In the customer example shown, it takes approximately 40 seconds. It is crucial that you explain the framework clearly and welcome it personally. It doesn’t have to be a long sales video.

Should there be testimonials on a thank you page?

Yes, if they are relevant to the interested party. Booking does not mean that he already knows all the customer examples. Good testimonials can reinforce his decision and answer questions before the interview.

Do I really need a demo for this?

No. A demo is an additional option for suitable offers, such as software. For many services, clear confirmation, personal preparation and meaningful customer testimonials make more sense.
